The clove tree, native to the North Maluku Islands of Indonesia, can grow up to 15 meters tall. Arabs brought it to Europe in the 5th century. Its strong scent is reminiscent of warm wines in winter.
Clove tree essential oil is obtained by distilling unopened flower buds, which have a very high essential oil content (15-20%). In this process, the volatile components of the clove (essential oil) are carried by steam. Then the steam condenses in an essential oil separator, separating the essential oils from the hydrosol (water).
