Cinnamon is one of the oldest spices known to humanity. It dates back to ancient times when the Egyptians used it for embalming purposes. It is mainly used as a spice in cooking.
Its essential oil is obtained from the bark by steam distillation. In this process, the volatile components of the bark (essential oil) are carried with the steam. Then the steam condenses in an essential oil separator, separating the essential oils from the hydrosol (water).
This spice has numerous properties:
- Cinnamon helps maintain normal blood sugar levels and intestinal comfort and promotes digestion
- It helps maintain normal blood lipid levels and promotes the production of HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol).
- It also helps keep the upper respiratory tract healthy and has significant antioxidant and stimulating properties
As an essential oil, cinnamon also strengthens the nervous system and sharpens brain function. It purifies the air, relieves muscle tension and cold symptoms. It has also been found to alleviate general feelings of fatigue.
Cinnamon, Cinnamom verum, our essential oil is 100% pure and natural, and it is obtained by organic production methods. The cinnamon tree is also known as Cinnamonum zylanicum or Ceylon Cinnamon Tree. It should not be confused with Chinese cinnamon, which is of lower quality.
