DESCRIPTION:

The ingredient of the Spirulina Pacifica preparation is a blue-green alga that contains high-quality plant proteins, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), beta-carotene, B vitamins (especially B12), iron, and chlorophyll. Regular use of the preparation stimulates metabolic processes (regulates the secretion of digestive juices) and is an excellent supplement to the diet of the elderly, convalescents, and vegetarians. It is also recommended in cases of stomach ulcers.

Spirulina is one of the few plant sources of vitamin B12, usually found only in animal tissues. One teaspoon of Spirulina covers two and a half times the recommended daily dose of this vitamin. Scientists speculate that the "manna" of the wandering Israelites, which appeared miraculously and was described as tasting like "honey wafers," could have been a dry, dormant form of Spirulina. Although this possibility is only a hypothesis, there are other historically documented examples of cultivating this alga as an important food source. Examples include the Aztecs and Mayans.
