This green tea comes from the Da Zhang Shan mountains in the Jiangxi region of China. Green tea, used for over 3000 years in Chinese and Indian medicine, is known for its stimulating and antioxidant effects. It also promotes physical and mental energy as well as weight management when used alongside a balanced diet. The green tea production process is simpler and shorter than that of black tea. As a result, the natural properties of the tea leaves remain almost unchanged.
The tea has a fresh natural flavor of green herbs. The tea is not fermented, so it contains a particularly high amount of tannins.
Tannin is a phenolic extract that transfers from the tea bush leaves into the brewed tea. Tannins are present as catechins in growing and unripe tea leaves. When the leaves are heated, the tannins emerge. Tannins belong to antioxidants, which in turn support the body's defense system.
Tannins taste dry and bitter in the mouth. You can adjust the bitterness of green tea by regulating the water temperature. If you add boiling hot water, you get a more tannin-like sensation. If you add slightly cooled water or use a cold brew method, you get the mildest tasting tea.
