Originating from Indonesia, more precisely from the island of Java, Java lemongrass is known for its lemon scent. These long, narrow leaves, also known as "Indian verbena," are widely used in cooking.
Its essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh aerial parts. In this process, the volatile components of the leaves (essential oil) are carried with the steam. Then the steam condenses in an essential oil separator, separating the essential oils from the hydrosol (water).
