The indigenous people of California used the California poppy both as food and medicine. Different parts of the plant were used, among other things, to repel lice, treat headaches, and toothaches. The plant has been found to contain calming substances.
Eschscholzia, or California poppy, is an excellent plant for combating stress. Its alkaloid content gives it calming and relaxing properties. But it does not cause dependency. California poppy is harvested from the Loir-et-Cher region in France (July-August) at the peak of flowering. This plant is cultivated annually, and in sunny weather, it creates beautiful flowering meadows thanks to the beautiful yellow-orange color of the flowers throughout the year.
The harvested aerial parts of the California poppy are dried in an oven at 70 °C for 6 hours and then at 50 °C for 48 hours. An initial quality control process is performed. The guaranteed californidine content of the obtained extract is 0.6%. Additional control procedures are carried out on the extract: physicochemical and microbiological tests, absence of heavy metals. The powdered extract is used in tablet manufacturing.
