DiosVein® food supplement with bioflavonoids obtained from sweet orange extracts. Flavonoids are a large group of polyphenolic compounds found in almost all fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits accumulate particularly large amounts of flavonoids in their white parts, called the albedo, especially when unripe, making them an excellent source for the industrial extraction of these compounds.
The flavonoid diosmin, found in some citrus plants and fruits, can be obtained from the flavonoid hesperidin, which occurs naturally in the albedo of unripe sweet oranges. Diosmin-based phlebotonics, such as DiosVein, consist of 96% diosmin and 4% other flavonoids, as hesperidin.
