DESCRIPTION:
Common marjoram (Latin name Origanum vulgare L.), commonly known as oregano, is a spice plant and herb found throughout Europe.
The main components of oregano are: essential oils (thymol and carvacrol). It also contains bitters, tannins, and rosmarinic acid.
Extract from this herb stimulates the secretion of saliva, digestive juices, and mucus (especially in the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract). Oregano has strong antioxidant properties, and one study even found it to be 42 times more active than apples. This results from the synergistic action of phenolic compounds, particularly rosmarinic acid, which is also responsible for antioxidant properties and protecting DNA code.
